Erich (Rick)'s Story

After graduation from Kearny High I went on to Mesa College and ended up in the Army in March 1966. I went in with Tony Cook and Jeff Henderson, we all went to Fort Ord for basic training. Tony went on into Army Security Agency, Jeff and I finished our advanced individual training and went to Officer Candidate School. Both of us graduated and I ended up with a 20 + year career in the Army, mostly in Intelligence and Data Processing. I graduated from Cal State Sacramento with a BS in Management Information Systems and Claremont Graduate School with a Masters in Business Administration. I also had several years of post graduate work at various universities. After retirement from the Army in November 1986, I went on to 20 more years at CalTech/JPL in data systems development for defense, forest service, space applications and Homeland Security. I retired from Caltech/JPL in May 2006 and enjoy the retired life now in Fallbrook, CA. My daughter is a teacher in the school district here and my son works at the CVS drug store here in Fallbrook. Our grandson graduated high school in 2018. He subsequently went into the Army as a Mil...Expand for more
itary Police officer, in a reserve unit stationed at March ARB in Riverside, CA. He has been deployed to the 'sands' and had quite an interesting tour of duty. He returned to the US and back in town just before Thanksgiving in 2020, he is a sergeant noe. He returned to his job with Apple at the Escondido store, then went to Honolulu as the business manager for the main store in Hawaii. He is now in a management internship in Cupertino, he will finish in June 2023 and return to SoCal. He bought a house in Temecula so he is aiming for this area. We purchased a townhouse in 2016 in Oceanside, 3 blocks from the beach, just south of the pier and spend as much time there as possible, while still maintaining a residence in Fallbrook. This was on our bucket list for years, spend time on the sand and walking around restaurants in Oceanside, the city and area have really improved over the past few years, there are so many microbrewery locations, I don't think I'll be able to try them all! Now with the virus gone, a lot of the microbreweries are back up running, along with restaurants and stores. email corduan at sbcglobal dot net.
